I am a catalyst-fanatic. I love to study great minds, Christian thinkers, and leaders of the Church. The insight and wisdom is remarkable. As Seth Godin would say, here are a bunch of “purple cows“… [...more]
I went to the Catalyst Conference this year and I got ruined! Ruined just like Craig Groeschel predicted. Me eyes and my heart were deeply enlightened concerning the current issues of this world. Now I am not totally oblivious to what’s going on, I mean I am a blogger you know. But it was so different to see and hear the passion and the pain in your face.
It’s a tribe of people who have decided that they would rather invest their lives in a cause that’s greater than themselves than waste it chasing the American Dream. As stated from the website, “CALL+RESPONSE is a first of its kind feature documentary film that reveals the world’s 27 million dirtiest secrets: there are more slaves today than ever before in human history. CALL+RESPONSE goes deep-undercover where slavery is thriving from the child brothels of Cambodia to the slave brick kilns of rural India to reveal that in 2007, Slave Traders made more money than Google, Nike and Starbucks combined.”
The issue of sex trafficking and present-day slavery is not one of your around-the-table conversations. Not too many people are aware of the extent of this growing global epidemic.
This pisses me off!!! I am a Christian and it is issues like these that I want to sell my life to seeing and making a difference. I don’t know what to do, I’m a college student, and I’m pretty much financially broke, but I do have a voice and I’m willing to learn more so I can use my voice to make the voices of these millions be heard. So I’m blogging and I’m saying to everyone who will listen… open your ears, open your eyes, get involved, and make a difference.
Now for most of you, this may seem like something small, but for me it’s a huge step into a new direction. While walking back to my dorm-room after class today, I met this elderly homeless lady. She asked me as I was passing by, “Do you have any spare change for the homeless?”. Now mind you, I am in the middle of reading Seth Godin’s new book – Tribes – as I was walking and I come across this section of the book where he says, “Heretics are the new leaders. The ones who challenge the status quo, who get out in front of their tribes, who create movement.”
My first response to her was that I didn’t have any money on me, but I realized that I had a $5 bill in my bag. So I turned around and I said to myself, you know what… I’m gonna do something different. [...more]
